High-Resolution Underwater Imaging
Without the Multibeam Price Tag
The Omniscan 450 series brings professional-grade forward-looking, side-scan and real-time 3D acoustic imaging to ROVs and uncrewed surface vessels — at a fraction of the cost of traditional sonar systems.
Real Acoustic Imaging, Live
These are unedited SonarView captures from Omniscan hardware in the field — no rendering, no post-processing.
Omniscan 450 FS vs. Oculus M750d
Side-by-side with a multibeam imaging sonar costing many times more — the Omniscan holds its own on target definition and range.
Side-Scan Mosaic — Friday Harbor
An Omniscan 450 SS builds a continuous geo-referenced acoustic mosaic of a harbour floor as the vehicle transits.

Real-Time 3D Point Cloud
The Omniscan 3D 450 SS paints a dense, live 3D point cloud of the seabed in a single pass — no offline processing step.

Choose the variant that best matches your vehicle, mission, and budget. All models share the same 450 kHz transducer core and are supported by SonarView software.
Forward-Looking
Forward-Looking Sonar for ROV Navigation
The Omniscan 450 FS puts scanning control directly in the hands of the ROV pilot. The transducer and electronics are housed in a single compact enclosure with a combined Ethernet + power interface. With a 50° vertical beam, the FS provides both forward and downward visibility — ideal for wreck hunting, navigation, and object detection out to 120 m.
For ROVs without a DVL, pairing two FS units (one forward, one offset 90°) enables 2D Doppler motion tracking and position-hold capability directly in SonarView.
- 120 m detection range; 0.8° beam width
- 50° vertical beam — forward & downward coverage
- Single cable: Ethernet + power combined
- Compatible with QYSEA FIFISH E-Go, W6, and Blue Robotics platforms
- Doppler mode for position-hold without DVL

Side-Scan Sonar for Survey & Search
The Omniscan 450 SS is optimized for side-scan applications. Its longer transducer geometry delivers better along-track resolution and extended range — up to 150 m per side. To scan simultaneously on both sides, two units are deployed — one to port, one to starboard.
The electronics are on a separate PCBA, enabling flexible mounting in a vehicle housing of your choice. Ideal for USV-based survey, search & recovery, and pipeline inspection.
- 150 m range; 0.5° narrow beam width for high resolution
- 50° beam height optimized for wide swath coverage
- Separate electronics PCBA for flexible housing integration
- Dual-unit configuration for simultaneous port & starboard scanning
- Available in BlueBoat-specific variant

Compact
Simplified Integration for Small ROVs
The Omniscan 450 Compact packs all electronics and the transducer into a single enclosure — perfect for small ROVs where space and cable management matter. A built-in 3-port Ethernet switch allows up to two additional Ethernet devices (e.g., a camera or second sonar) to be daisy-chained from a single tether connection.
The 10° downward beam angle provides optimal coverage of the seafloor ahead of the vehicle, making it especially suitable for bottom-following navigation and structure inspection.
- All-in-one form factor — transducer & electronics integrated
- Internal 3-port Ethernet switch for daisy-chaining devices
- 10° downward vertical beam for optimized bottom coverage
- 100 m max range; 1.1° beam width
- 300 m depth rated; 934 g air / 400 g water

Real-Time 3D Point Cloud Generation
The Omniscan 3D 450 SS is an advanced underwater imaging system that fills the gap between conventional side-scan sonar and full multibeam echo sounders. Using a 16-channel receive array, it calculates the vertical angle of every acoustic return — generating high-resolution 3D point clouds of the seafloor in real time at 450 kHz.
The result is dense bathymetric data with wide-swath coverage and the workflow simplicity of a side-scan sonar, at a fraction of the cost of a traditional multibeam system.
- 16-channel receive array for vertical angle calculation
- Real-time 3D point cloud — no post-processing required
- Wide-swath bathymetric data capture in a single pass
- 450 kHz for high along-track resolution
- Supported by SonarView with CSV and GSF export

Real Output From Real Dives
Every image below is captured directly in SonarView — the free software included with every Omniscan. This is the data you take home from a survey.
3D structure and classic side-scan — from the same ping
Because the Omniscan 3D measures the vertical angle of every return, SonarView reconstructs the seabed in three dimensions while still giving you the familiar side-scan waterfall. You can spin the point cloud, measure heights, and confirm a target's shape — all from a single recorded pass.
- Resolve the height and shape of wrecks, debris and structure
- Replay, re-colour and re-measure any logged dive offline
- Export point clouds to CSV / GSF for third-party processing
Find it, classify it, then send the ROV
Wide-swath acoustic imaging lets you cover ground fast and pick out anomalies on the seabed long before a camera could see them. Identify the target acoustically, fix its position, and deploy your ROV straight to it — saving hours of blind searching in turbid water.
- Cut through dark, silty and turbid water where cameras fail
- Cover large search areas in a single transit
- Hand off a precise position fix to the recovery vehicle
