Wherever Access Is the Hard Part.
From a ship's hull in dry dock to a crane jib offshore to a chemical storage tank, the ALTUM reaches the steel from the ground: one operator, no scaffolding, no rope team, no drone permit. SepcoTech focuses the ALTUM on ship inspection, shipyards and offshore, backed by real tank, silo, bridge and pipe-rack projects that prove it works.

In the Marine World, Access Is the Real Cost.
On a vessel, in a yard or offshore, the inspection itself is rarely the expensive part. The cost is everything you build to reach the steel: staging and scaffolding against a hull, a rope-access team mobilised for a crane jib, a MEWP or cherry-picker on a quay, the permits and the downtime while a structure is taken out of service.
The ALTUM removes that layer. One technician stands on the dock floor, the walkway or the deck and brings the camera, or the ultrasonic probe, up to the steel on a carbon pole. SepcoTech supplies and supports the system, helps you spec the right modules for your structures, and arranges training and after-sales from one partner.
- No scaffolding, rope access, MEWP or cherry-picker to mobilise
- No structure shutdown just to build access for an inspection
- Not bound by drone regulations: works where UAVs are prohibited
- One operator, set up and inspecting in minutes from a safe standing point

Sectors the ALTUM Serves
Seven places where reaching the steel used to mean access equipment, and where the ALTUM now does the job from the ground. Outcome first, then the modules that get you there.
Ship & Hull Inspection
Survey hull plating, topsides and superstructure for condition and remaining wall thickness from the dock floor or quay, with no staging built against the ship's side. Learn more about UTM →
Visual · UTM Ultra-Light Request a quote →Shipyards & Dry Dock
Speed up dry-dock and new-build surveys: cover the high steel a docked vessel exposes without waiting on staging crews, keeping the dock schedule moving. Learn more about visual →
Visual · UTM Request a quote →Ballast & Cargo Tanks
Take thickness readings high on tank walls and roofs, and inside ballast tanks, with a single operator, often without erecting confined-space staging. Ballast & cargo tank inspection →
UTM · Grinder · B-Scan Request a quote →Offshore & Cranes
Reach crane booms, jibs and weld repairs, plus structures and pipe racks on platforms and terminals, from a safe standing point, with no crane downtime to build access. Learn more about visual →
Visual · UTM · EMAT Request a quote →Storage Tanks & Silos
Measure vertical-wall thickness on storage tanks and silos, grinding off rust and coating first where needed so the ultrasonic probe gets a clean contact. Learn more about UTM →
UTM with Grinder Request a quote →Bridges & Pipe Racks
Inspect undersides, beams and elevated pipe racks, including sites near railways where drones and aerial platforms are not permitted, using the 3 m horizontal overhang. Learn more about visual →
Visual · 3 m Overhang Request a quote →Weld & Coating Surveys
Capture close, high-resolution images of welds, coating breakdown and corrosion: the visual evidence that backs a repair-or-defer decision. Learn more about visual →
Visual Module Request a quote →The jib is eighteen metres up. The inspector never leaves the deck.
On a platform, a terminal or a quay, the ALTUM brings the camera or the ultrasonic probe to the steel while the technician stays at a safe standing point. No staging to build, no rope team to mobilise, no airspace permit to wait for.
Real Projects on Real Structures
A selection of inspections CSpect has carried out with the ALTUM, across ports, chemical plants, steelworks and offshore.

Weld Inspection on a 64 m Crane
Post-repair weld inspection high on a 64 m harbour crane with the ALTUM visual module: one person, and no crane downtime to build access.

Fouled Tank: Grind & Measure
On a fouled storage tank, the crawler module ground off dirt and rust, then took clean UTM readings in one pass, with no separate cleaning crew.

Storage-Tank Thickness to 20 m
UTM on chemical storage tanks to 20 m, reading through rust and past obstructing ledges, including roof sections, from a single standing point.

Pipe-Rack A-Scan & EMAT
A-scan thickness on pipe tops, sides and bottoms across elevated pipe racks, plus couplant-free EMAT through coatings, all in a live plant.

Tanks & Pipelines
With local partner OLIMP UAV, the Light UTM and B-Scan modules were deployed on storage tanks and pipelines for remote thickness data.

Bridge Where Drones Were Banned
Visual inspection where drones and aerial platforms were not permitted: the ALTUM is a ground-based pole, not bound by drone regulations.

Hull UTM on a Dredger
Ultrasonic thickness on a vessel's hull with the UTM Ultra-Light module, measured from the ground, no scaffolding against the side.
The ALTUM is recognised by leading marine contractors including DEME. CSpect's inspection innovation has also been recognised with an IADC award.

Which Module for Which Job
Every job starts with the same carbon pole. The module you clamp on is what makes a particular inspection possible, and here's where each one fits.

The ALTUM Pole
The 18.2 m, 4.1 kg carbon telescopic pole is the base of every job: the reach that gets the camera or probe to the steel from the ground.

ALTUM Applications: Common Questions
New to pole-based inspection? Our guide explains how it works and how to choose modules.
Can it inspect a ship hull without scaffolding?
Does it work offshore and on cranes?
Can it measure tank or silo wall thickness?
Is it allowed where drones aren't?
Reach, Without the Access Rig
The ALTUM carbon pole puts the camera or gauge on the steel from a safe standing point, on structures where scaffolding, a rope team or a drone permit would otherwise be needed.
