● The ALTUM Telescopic Pole: The Base of Every System

The Pole That Carries Every Inspection.

The ALTUM telescopic pole is the ultra-light carbon backbone of the whole system, a patented, in-house developed pole that extends to 18.2 metres and accepts every ALTUM module. One pole, every module: buy it once and reconfigure it for visual surveys, ultrasonic thickness measurement, EMAT and B-Scan. One operator reaches the steel from the ground, with no scaffolding, rope access or drone permits.

One Carbon Pole. Every Module Clamps to It.

CSpect (Ostend, Belgium) developed the ALTUM pole in-house and patented it. It is made from 100% high-modulus carbon over 12 sections, extends to 18.2 m and closes down to just 1.96 m for transport, at a total weight of only 4.1 kg. Carbon is what makes that possible: light enough to carry and raise by hand, stiff enough to hold the camera or ultrasonic probe steady at full extension.

The pole is the single base for the entire ALTUM range. The visual module, the UTM Ultra-Light, the UTM with grinder (crawler), EMAT and B-Scan all clamp to this same pole, so you buy the pole once and add the modules a job needs. SepcoTech supplies and supports the ALTUM range, so the system, the configuration advice and the after-sales support all come from one partner.

  • One pole carries every module: visual, UTM, EMAT and B-Scan
  • Light and stiff enough to deploy for several hours; sets up in minutes
  • Reaches ~18 m from the ground, with no scaffolding, rope access, MEWP or drone permits

Telescopic Inspection Pole

An ultra-light 18.2 m telescopic pole in 100% high-modulus carbon, the patented base of the ALTUM system. Extended it reaches roughly 18 m from the ground; closed it packs down to 1.96 m for easy transport, weighing just 4.1 kg. Every ALTUM module clamps onto the same pole, so a single pole serves visual inspection, ultrasonic thickness measurement, EMAT and B-Scan across every job.

Start With the Pole. Add What the Job Needs.

Every ALTUM system is built the same way, and it always starts with one pole. Choose the module(s) for the inspection, then a viewer and any extras.

1 · Start with the pole

The 18.2 m, 4.1 kg carbon telescopic pole is the base of every system. Buy it once: every module clamps onto this same pole, so you only pay for the pole one time.

2 · Add your module(s)

Visual camera for condition, welds & coatings; UTM Ultra-Light or UTM with grinder (crawler) for wall thickness; EMAT for couplant-free readings; B-Scan for corrosion mapping. Mix as many as you need on the one pole.

3 · Add the viewer & extras

A tablet or phone viewer, plus job-specific extras such as the 3 m horizontal overhang, a 10 m in-tank cable, spare batteries, probes and couplant.

Where to choose modules and extras. The modules and accessories that ride on this pole are detailed on the Visual Inspection and Thickness Measurement pages, and you can build the whole package on the Overview. Add the pole here, then the parts you need; they all travel to one quote.
Everything you add builds one combined ALTUM quote. Add the pole, modules and extras as you browse, across every page, then send the whole configuration in a single request.

The ALTUM Pole: Common Questions

New to pole-based inspection? Our guide explains how the system works and how to choose modules.

How long is the ALTUM pole?
It extends to 18.2 m and closes down to a packed length of 1.96 m. That gives one operator roughly 18 m of reach from the ground, while still being short enough to transport easily once collapsed.
How heavy is it?
4.1 kg. It is built from 100% high-modulus carbon over 12 sections: carbon is what keeps the pole light enough to raise by hand and stiff enough to hold the camera or ultrasonic probe steady at full extension. It is light enough to deploy for several hours without battery stress, as the modules' batteries last a working session.
Does one pole take every module?
Yes. The pole is the single base for the whole ALTUM system. The visual module, UTM Ultra-Light, UTM with grinder (crawler), EMAT and B-Scan all clamp to the same pole, so you buy the pole once and add the modules a job needs. Modules and extras are listed on the Visual Inspection and Thickness Measurement pages.
What training is needed?
The pole sets up in minutes and, after a short training session, anyone can use it. A 1-day introductory training for the ALTUM with UTM module is included, held at CSpect's offices in Ostend, Belgium.
How do I order the pole?
Add the pole to your quote on this page and submit the form. Your selection reaches the SepcoTech team automatically, and we'll confirm the configuration, pricing, training and lead time.
