Cabled Coastal Monitoring Station

One Site.
Watched Forever.

SYSENSE is a cabled, seabed-mounted observatory that streams acoustic noise and water-quality data in real time — continuously, indefinitely, with no batteries to swap. One permanent installation, accessed from anywhere via the internet, for ports, harbours, marine protected areas and construction sites.

A fixed station that never has to be recovered to deliver its data

When a recording isn't enough — you need the live feed

Battery recorders and surface buoys answer a campaign. A permanent monitoring obligation — a multi-year harbour development, a marine protected area, a port noise programme — needs something that simply never stops. SYSENSE is a seabed-mounted station tethered to a surface control point by cable, giving it unlimited power and a continuous, real-time link to both its acoustic array and its environmental sensors.

  • Cable-powered — runs indefinitely, no battery swaps or recovery dives
  • Acoustic hydrophone array and a water-quality sensor suite in one install
  • All data accessible remotely over the internet — no site visit to see it
How it works →
Observatory vs. Buoy or Recorder

When fixed, continuous and remote is the only answer

SYSENSE is the right tool when the monitoring can't pause, the data must be live, and acoustics and water quality have to be measured together.

🔁 No Gaps Allowed

Permitted programmes can't tolerate the blind windows between recorder deployments. A cabled station has none.

🌐 Decisions Off-Site

Managers and regulators need to see conditions from their desk. Remote internet access removes the site visit.

🔗 Correlated Signals

A noise event means more when tied to turbidity, salinity and temperature at the same instant — one station does both.

📋 Audit Burden

Permit reporting eats analyst time. Automated report generation turns continuous data into defensible records.

The Station

SYSENSE — continuous real-time seabed monitoring

A hydrophone acoustic array and a multiparameter sensor suite on one seabed frame, cabled to the surface for unlimited power and an unbroken data link.

Acoustic Array + Multiparameter Sensors

Two monitoring jobs, one cabled installation

SYSENSE combines a hydrophone array with full PAM capability and a comprehensive water-quality sensor suite, all on a fixed seabed station. Power and data run over a tethered cable to a surface control point, so unlike battery recorders or surface buoys it operates indefinitely — ideal for permanent coastal installations where data continuity and remote access are essential. Versatile software handles remote control, data access and automated report generation.

The Output

Acoustics and environment, correlated in real time

SYSENSE's value is in the combined picture — a noise event read against the water conditions at the same moment, all available live and remotely.

Detect the soundscape, characterise the habitat

The acoustic array supports passive acoustic monitoring, marine-mammal detection and ship-noise characterisation, while the sensor suite tracks the water around it. Together they enable ecosystem work that neither could do alone — including fish-vocalisation detection for habitat assessment, such as monitoring Posidonia meadow health through fish sound, benthic soundscape mapping and crustacean behaviour studies.

  • Correlate noise events with turbidity, salinity and temperature
  • Fish & invertebrate vocalisation detection for habitat health
  • Automated compliance reports for permits and publications

Integrated Sensor Suite

One station, the complete environmental picture

SYSENSE combines underwater acoustic monitoring with a full water-quality and oceanographic sensor suite — no separate acoustic and environmental deployments.
