The Sea, Reporting
Back in Real Time.
Three surface buoy platforms for offshore acoustic monitoring — from a rugged real-time noise-measurement buoy to an AI buoy that detects and classifies whales out to 20 km, on its own, and radios the result ashore. Satellite, 4G, UHF and Wi-Fi for any site, anywhere.
Acoustic monitoring you don't have to wait for
A seabed recorder tells you what happened — after you recover it. An offshore buoy tells you what's happening now. RTsys monitoring buoys put the hydrophones at the surface and stream calibrated noise metrics and AI detections back to shore in real time, so operators can act inside the compliance window instead of after it.
- RUBHY — rugged real-time noise-measurement buoy for construction & survey work
- RUBHYAI — autonomous AI cetacean detection and classification
- REMHY — lightweight, single-person-deployable rapid-response buoy
The offshore-monitoring problems these buoys solve
Real-time acoustic compliance at sea is constrained by weather, logistics and the limits of a single human analyst. RTsys engineered around all three.
⏱️ The Compliance Window
Pile-driving and seismic work need a decision now, not after recovery. Recorded-only data can't trigger a shutdown in time.
👤 Analyst Bottleneck
Continuous human listening doesn't scale to months of remote watch. Autonomous AI detection removes the round-the-clock operator.
📶 No Signal Offshore
Remote sites lack reliable comms. Four pathways — Iridium, 4G, UHF, Wi-Fi — keep data flowing wherever you deploy.
🌊 Weather & Logistics
Heavy buoys need big vessels. Sub-350 kg and single-person platforms deploy from the boats you already have.
RUBHY — built for the construction site at sea
Four wide-band hydrophones, real-time SEL/SPL and third-octave metrics, and up to 40 days on station — rated to sea state 5 and light enough for a working vessel.
Live noise metrics during the work that makes the noise
The RUBHY is RTsys' flagship offshore buoy, built for marine construction, pile-driving, seismic survey and marine-renewable operations. Four wide-band hydrophones from 3 Hz up measure Sound Exposure Level, Sound Pressure Level and third-octave band levels in real time, streaming to shore over Wi-Fi at up to 10 km for continuous operator monitoring — for up to 40 days between service visits.

RUBHYAI — a marine-mammal observer that never sleeps
The proven RUBHY platform with embedded AI that detects and classifies cetacean vocalisations autonomously — and radios the alert ashore over satellite.
Detection and classification without an analyst on watch
RUBHYAI extends the RUBHY with embedded artificial intelligence for real-time, autonomous cetacean detection and classification across 3 Hz to over 500 kHz. It monitors the soundscape continuously and identifies marine-mammal vocalisations — and distinguishes anthropogenic, meteorological and biological noise sources — without an onshore analyst listening live. Multiparameter sensors and four communication pathways including Iridium satellite make it the most capable remote marine-mammal watch in its class.
- Real-time alerts for MMO/PSO compliance triggering
- Multiparameter sensors: temperature, pressure, conductivity, O₂, pH, turbidity, salinity
- Classifies odontocetes and mysticetes — and the noise around them

REMHY — rapid response from a small boat
When the RUBHY's weight and logistics aren't needed: four wide-band inputs, up to 1 MHz bandwidth and an embedded DSP, in a buoy one person can deploy.
High-bandwidth acquisition without the heavy logistics
The REMHY is RTsys' lightweight, highly portable surface buoy for fast-response monitoring, mobile surveys and research from smaller platforms. Four wide-band hydrophone inputs reach up to 1 MHz bandwidth with more than 100 dB of dynamic range, and it accepts both passive and preamplified active hydrophones. An embedded digital signal processor handles high-speed acquisition, with a 700 m Wi-Fi link for control from a nearby vessel.

Four ways to get the data ashore
RTsys buoys carry multiple communication pathways so the right link is available whether you're 700 m off a quay or beyond cellular range in open water.
Where RTsys buoys deliver
