The Portasonic® CALCULATOR is the first device designed to estimate internal pipe pressure using non‑intrusive, externally measured flow data. It provides a way to assess internal operating conditions without opening the pipe or interrupting the system.
Developed to work together with the Portasonic® PLUS Ultrasonic Flow Meter, it complements one of the industry’s most widely used clamp‑on flow measurement tools. The Portasonic® PLUS is relied on across many maintenance, inspection, and monitoring tasks, making it a natural partner for pressure estimation.
As a companion instrument, the Portasonic® CALCULATOR applies an empirical formula based on fluid‑dynamics principles to predict internal pressure with an accuracy of approximately 5%. Its calculations draw on an extensive dataset covering more than 19 liquid types and 23 commonly used pipe materials, enabling reliable predictions across many practical scenarios.

Maintaining safe pressure levels is essential for ensuring the integrity of pipe systems. Excessive pressure can result in pipe rupture, equipment damage, operational downtime, and hazards for personnel.
