Acoustic, non-invasive pressure monitoring system, in an intuitive Android platform.
Portagas® is a world’s first technology for non-invasive, non-destructive monitoring of pressurised, inert gas systems.
It is a unique and innovative solution designed to monitor the pressure of pressurized, non-liquefied inert gases and compressed gas cylinders, including Inergen®, Nitrogen, Oxygen and Argon.
Utilizing sophisticated signal processing and acoustic technology to detect even minor fluctuations in internal cylinder pressure, with precision below the 5% required by regulations, making it a valuable tool for ensuring safety and compliance.
Portagas®
Acoustic, Non‑Invasive Pressure Monitoring System on an Intuitive Android Platform
Portagas® is a first‑of‑its‑kind technology developed for non‑intrusive, non‑destructive monitoring of pressurised inert gas systems. It provides a safe and efficient method for assessing pressure without opening or interfering with the cylinder or pipework.
Designed specifically for non‑liquefied inert and compressed gases, Portagas® can be used with systems containing Inergen®, Nitrogen, Oxygen, Argon, and similar gases. Its versatility makes it suitable for both fixed installations and cylinder‑based applications.
By combining advanced acoustic sensing with sophisticated signal‑processing algorithms, the system detects even small changes in internal gas pressure. This enables pressure assessment with accuracy exceeding regulatory requirements, delivering reliable insight to support safety, compliance, and maintenance planning.

Intelligent Leak Detection
The temperature‑adjusted expected pressure is automatically compared with the pressure determined acoustically by Portagas®. This allows the system to distinguish between pressure variations caused by ambient temperature changes and those caused by actual gas loss. The entire process is completed automatically and displayed instantly, enabling confident decision‑making with minimal user input.
Digital Records & Maintenance Traceability
Portagas® simplifies maintenance documentation by storing every test directly on the device with a date and time stamp. Historical results can be reviewed on the device and filtered by location or inspection date. Data can also be exported via USB or email, either as a CSV file for integration into existing maintenance systems or as a professionally generated PDF report for compliance and auditing purposes.
Supported Gases
Inergen®, Nitrogen, Oxygen & Argon
Overview
Non‑Invasive Pressure Monitoring System
Portagas® is an advanced contents‑monitoring solution designed for pressurised, non‑liquefied inert gas cylinders. It uses a combination of acoustic sensing, advanced signal processing, and empirically validated data models to assess cylinder pressure without opening, weighing, or disturbing the system.
Accurate Pressure Assessment Through Temperature Compensation
Pressure readings alone do not provide a complete picture of a cylinder’s condition. In sealed vessels, pressure varies directly with temperature, meaning changes in pressure do not automatically indicate a loss of contents. Traditional pressure gauges address this by displaying broad acceptable pressure ranges for different temperatures, relying heavily on manual interpretation by inspection personnel.
Portagas® removes this uncertainty by incorporating an integrated infrared temperature sensor within the measurement head. At the moment of testing, the system records the cylinder’s surface temperature and combines it with known fill pressure and fill temperature data. Using high‑accuracy gas models, it calculates the precise pressure that should be present at the measured temperature, accounting for the physical properties and behaviour of the contained gas.
