The JIMCO OZ Series uses a UV-C lamp to fill a closed, empty space with ozone, which oxidises odour compounds and microorganisms in the air, on surfaces and in soft furnishings. Three portable units - OZ1000 and OZ1000T (with a 60-minute treatment timer) for spaces up to 125 m³, and the twin-lamp OZ2000 for up to 250 m³ - for garbage rooms, emptied provision stores and cabins after smoke or spoilage. No chemicals, no filters, 30–60 W.

Ozone is what does the work, and it is why the space must be empty. During a cycle the OZ produces ozone well above safe breathing levels - JIMCO's own test room reached 1.68 ppm, against the 0.1 ppm JIMCO cites as the Danish workplace limit. Close and vacate the space, run the cycle, then ventilate before anyone goes back in. Ozone breaks down to ordinary oxygen and leaves no chemical residue. For spaces people keep working in, such as a cold room in daily use, use the ozone-limited MAC500s instead.
A periodic reset, not a permanent fixture
A 16 W UV-C lamp splits oxygen in the room air into ozone, a fan carries it through the space, and the ozone oxidises what it meets - odour molecules, bacteria, viruses, yeasts, ethylene from stored produce - before reverting to oxygen. Because it is a gas, it reaches behind shelving, into fabric and into corners a wipe-down misses. You run it in a closed space nobody needs for a few hours, ventilate, and the job is done.
What that does not do is remove the source. If the garbage room still has a leaking bin or the store still has a mouldy crate, the smell comes back. Clean first, then treat.

What JIMCO's test actually shows
JIMCO commissioned an accredited laboratory test (Dr. Brill + Partner GmbH, Bremen, report L20/1055MV.1, August 2020, method based on EN 17272). An OZ2000 ran for 4 hours in a 31 m³ room, reaching a peak of 1.68 ppm ozone at 75–85% relative humidity.
On surfaces, vaccinia virus - the European reference model for enveloped viruses - fell by about 2.6 log (roughly 99.8%). JIMCO reports reductions for bacteria and yeast alongside, most between 1.4 and 2.4 log, with the two Mycobacterium species above 4 log.
Two things to read into the numbers: the test room was an eighth of the OZ2000's rated 250 m³, and the test ran four hours, not one. Larger or drier spaces need longer.

How do you know the space is safe again?
The OZ has no ozone sensor. The OZ1000T's timer stops ozone production; it does not tell you the ozone has gone. Ventilate the space - the fruit importer in the case study below allows at least 30 minutes - and if you treat spaces routinely, carry a handheld ozone meter that reads down to 0.1 ppm and check before re-entry. Handle, finish & 24 V notes
The handle is an article number, not an accessory line: 100.302 without, 100.304 with. Aboard, where a unit gets carried between a waste room, a laundry and an emptied store, take the handle.
Stainless is the sensible marine default. JIMCO lists a coated alternative but does not publish which colour or coating standard it is, so we confirm exactly what you are getting before the order goes in. Finish is not a separate article number.
The 24 V version is stated in JIMCO's own small-air-purifier brochure but not on the current product page, so we confirm availability with the factory on every 24 V order.

Timer, handle & 24 V notes
Two different timers. Every OZ has an 8,000-hour lamp counter - what the article list means by "with 8000H timer". Only the OZ1000T has the 0–60 minute treatment timer. The timer stops ozone production; it does not tell you the ozone has gone - ventilate before re-entry.

Room sizes are JIMCO's recommendation for odour treatment. For hygiene treatment, size down or run longer - the disinfection test used an OZ2000 in 31 m³.

Two extra weeks on exotic fruit - the importer's own records
The OZ Series isn't only a marine tool - it's earning its keep in commercial cold storage ashore.
SINBADTECH - exotic-fruit importer
A small European exotic-fruit distributor, featured in a JIMCO case story, reported that fruit lasted up to two weeks longer after it started using an OZ1000 in its chill store. Their routine is simple, and a good template for any ozone treatment:
- Wash the fruit and load it into the store, running at 2–5 °C
- Close the door and run the OZ1000 for 2–3 hours with nobody inside
- Leave it at least 30 minutes for the ozone to clear before opening - often longer
JIMCO notes the lamp takes longer to warm up in a cold store, which is one reason the cycle is hours rather than minutes.
