The Omniscan 450 Compact packs the electronics and the transducer into one enclosure, for small ROVs where space and cable management decide the fit. A built-in three-port Ethernet switch lets up to two more devices — a camera, a second sonar — share the single tether connection.

Maximum range is the range at which Cerulean has comfortably identified targets. SonarView will let you set the range out to 200 m.
Far field is the range beyond which the beam-width figure holds. Closer in, the effective beam is wider and sidelobes are larger.
Beam width is the nominal theoretical two-way (transmit and receive) 3 dB beam width.

What makes the Compact different from the FS?
Everything is in one enclosure — transducer, electronics and a built-in Ethernet switch. The trade is reach: 100 m maximum range against the FS’s 120 m, and a 1.1° beam against 0.8°. Source
What does the built-in Ethernet switch actually buy me?
The Compact acts as a hub for up to two additional Ethernet devices — a camera, or a second sonar — off a single tether connection. Adding one means opening the housing (12 T10 Torx screws) and fitting an M10 penetrator, so plan it before the dive, not on deck. Source
Why does it point 10° down?
The Compact’s vertical beam is angled 10° downward rather than level, which puts more of the 50° beam height on the seabed ahead of a small ROV instead of into open water. Source
Is there a Blue Robotics edition?
No, and none is needed — the standard unit is what goes on a BlueROV2 or BlueBoat. The factory editions exist for the vehicles that need a different connector: Blueye, CHASING, and the QYSEA W6. Source
Does the 300 m QYSEA W6 edition see further?
No. 300 m is the depth the housing survives, not the range. Every Compact has the same 100 m maximum range. Source
