Surface roughness drives the gain: SEA-SPEED measures <10–16 µm out of dock, against 120–175 µm for conventional antifouling and 70–90 µm for soft silicones — and fuel changes by roughly 1% per 20 µm. On the owner's sportfisher, light fouling self-cleaned within a day of running.

No. SEA-SPEED V 10 X ULTRA is a hard-film silane-siloxane foul-release coating, not a biocidal antifouling. It contains no TBT, copper or zinc and does not poison growth — its nano-smooth, low-energy surface releases fouling through surface chemistry, so growth sheds under way or wipes off. Barnacles wipe off by hand even after 18 weeks of static immersion.
