One Handheld. Three Faults Made Visible.

The Hertzinno acoustic cameras are the all-rounders of the range. In a single sub-1.2 kg unit, with no thermal or methane add-on to carry, they image partial discharge, gas leaks and mechanical noise as a picture made of sound, then classify and quantify the find on the device. SepcoTech supplies the third-generation HA3 and the HZ-HA-170P and HZ-HA-171P series.

Everything the Range Does, Minus the Add-Ons

The Hertzinno acoustic cameras are the pure acoustic-imaging models: the same dense MEMS array and AI beamforming that the rest of the range is built on, but without the laser-methane sensor of the HA3LX or the thermal core of the HA3T. That keeps them light, simple and affordable, and still able to handle the three faults that matter most aboard ship.

The third-generation HA3 is the base camera the whole HA3 family is built on, with a 144-channel array, laser rangefinder and removable battery. The HZ-HA-170P and HZ-HA-171P are leaner siblings: fewer channels, a 720P screen, no laser or fill light, that trade features for cost and, in the 171P's case, battery endurance.

  • One camera covers partial discharge, gas-leak and mechanical diagnostics
  • Non-contact: it images from a distance, nothing is opened or shut down
  • On-device PRPD AI classifies the discharge type, not just its presence
  • Estimates the leak rate and reports condition parameters on screen

Detection modes: Partial Discharge, Gas Leak & Mechanical, in one handheld

One Camera, Three Jobs, and Where Each Earns Its Place

Partial discharge, gas leaks and mechanical wear share one trait: none shows on a walk-round until it is serious. The acoustic camera switches mode to surface all three.

LiveHertzinno acoustic camera in Partial Discharge mode, locating arcing on high-voltage equipment with PRPD analysis

Find arcing in the switchboard before it trips the ship

Partial discharge in high-voltage switchgear and cabling emits a faint ultrasonic signature long before it flashes over. In Partial Discharge mode the camera locates it from a safe distance and the on-device PRPD AI classifies the discharge type (corona, surface, floating or particle/noise), so you know whether it is a watch item or a work order.

  • AI classifies discharge type, not just presence
  • Inspect energised switchgear without opening panels
  • Phase-resolved (PRPD) analysis for condition trending

Aboard ship: main and emergency switchboards, HV cable terminations and transformers.

Industrial gas pipework and valves

See a compressed-gas leak as sound, then put a number on it

Pressurised gas escaping through a flange, valve gland or seal makes ultrasound the ear cannot hear. In Gas Leak mode the camera maps that sound onto the live image, so the source is obvious even across a deck, and the software estimates the leak rate in the field. The HA3 detects leaks from as little as 0.0032 L/min at 2.5 m, as published by Hertzinno.

  • Locates compressed-air and gas leaks across a compartment
  • HA3 detects from 0.0032 L/min at 2.5 m
  • HA3 and 170P are ATEX intrinsically-safe for classified zones

Aboard ship: instrument-air and service-air lines, pneumatic systems, valve and flange seals. For laser-quantified methane on cargo systems, see the gas-leak cameras.

Ship engine-room machinery

Hear the bearing going, before it takes the machine with it

In a noisy engine room Mechanical mode isolates the one sound that has changed. It locates abnormal sources on pumps, compressors and gearboxes so worn bearings, misalignment and poor lubrication are caught while they are still cheap to fix, and trended between port calls.

  • Pinpoints the faulty component in a wall of noise
  • Supports trend-based, condition-led maintenance
  • Cuts unplanned downtime and breakdown cost

Aboard ship: engine-room pumps, compressors, fans and gearboxes. For a fused thermal hot-spot check in the same pass, see the acoustic + thermal cameras.

Hertzinno Acoustic Cameras: Common Questions

New to acoustic imaging? Our guide explains how it works and where each mode is used.

What is the difference between the HA3, HZ-HA-170P and HZ-HA-171P?
All three are pure acoustic cameras that image partial discharge, gas leaks and mechanical noise, with no thermal or methane add-on. As published by Hertzinno, the HA3 is the third-generation flagship: a 144-channel MEMS array, 2–130 kHz band, laser rangefinder, 1 W LED fill light and a removable battery. The HZ-HA-170P has a 138-channel array, 2–100 kHz band and an internal (non-removable) battery giving about 4 hours. The HZ-HA-171P has a 128-channel array, 2–100 kHz band and a replaceable battery delivering up to 7 hours.
What does an acoustic camera detect aboard ship?
Three things, each in its own mode. Partial Discharge mode finds arcing in energised switchgear and cabling, and the on-device PRPD AI classifies it as corona, surface, floating or particle noise. Gas Leak mode locates pressurised-gas escapes and the software estimates the leak rate. Mechanical mode isolates abnormal sound from bearings, pumps and compressors in a noisy engine room.
Are the acoustic cameras ATEX-certified?
As published by Hertzinno, the HA3 and the HZ-HA-170P carry ATEX intrinsic-safety certification (Ex ib IIC T4 Gb and Ex ib IIIC T80 °C Db). The HZ-HA-171P ATEX rating is provided on request. Exact certification is confirmed per camera at quotation.
How small a leak can the HA3 find?
As published by Hertzinno, the HA3 detects gas leaks from more than 0.0032 L/min at a distance of 2.5 m, and locates the sound source to within ±1°, about 1 cm at 1 m at 40 kHz.
Do these cameras have a thermal or methane sensor?
No, these are the pure acoustic models. For a fused thermal hot-spot check, see the acoustic + thermal cameras; for laser-quantified methane on LNG/LPG cargo systems, see the methane & gas-leak cameras.
