SEAMOR ORCA — Modular Vectored-Thrust Utility ROV to 1,000 m
SEAMOR's next evolution — true modularity, work-class-grade thrust and 6 DOF vectored control in a single 60 kg platform. The ORCA bridges portability and offshore-grade performance: the only ROV you'll ever need.
Ultimate Modularity. Vectored Thrust.
A True Utility ROV.
The ORCA sits above the existing SEAMOR generation — combining the agility of lightweight systems with the power and payload of work-class platforms.
The ORCA fills the gap between portability and offshore-grade performance — delivering the versatility of two systems in one adaptable platform.
True 360° Control. Confident in Any Condition.
Strategically angled horizontal thrusters deliver precise lateral movement; powerful vertical thrusters hold depth even in strong current — smooth station-keeping and confident control, inshore and offshore.
Direct lateral force, not differential drift
Unlike conventional ROVs that steer by differential thrust, the ORCA's vectored layout produces direct lateral force in any direction. Four 500 W brushless horizontal thrusters drive a 3-knot transit and true sideways translation, while four Sturgeon 200 W vertical thrusters hold depth with 20 kg of payload aboard — full 6 DOF freedom to surge, sway, heave, roll, pitch and yaw.
- True 360° lateral control for confined spaces and cross-current work
- Smooth station-keeping — survey lines stay straight, targets stay framed
- Work-class-grade thrust in a 60 kg, crane-free package
4 × 500 W Horizontal Thrusters
SEAMOR's in-house brushless 500 W design delivers 3-knot speed with vectored thrust angles for true lateral movement — no skidding, no drift, and significantly higher thrust than comparable systems.
4 × 200 W Vertical Thrusters
Four Sturgeon 200 W vertical thrusters — Swiss Maxon motors, NASA-grade BAL Seal technology, corrosion-resistant 6061 aluminium — hold precise depth with 20 kg of payload aboard.
True 360° Vectored Control
Direct lateral force in any direction dramatically improves precision in confined spaces and cross-current environments where conventional ROVs fight to hold heading.
6 Degrees of Freedom
Surge, sway, heave, roll, pitch and yaw — translate sideways, hover in place and rotate independently in all three axes for complete freedom of movement.
Smooth Station-Keeping
Holds position in current conditions that would force conventional ROVs to fight just to maintain heading — keeping inspection and survey output clean.
60 kg — Portable by Design
Work-class-grade thrust and 20 kg payload in just 60 kg — lighter than the Mako, deployable without a crane on vessels where heavy ROVs aren't practical.
Configure for the Mission. Not the Other Way Around.
An open-frame design and snap-on skid system give operators unprecedented field flexibility — reconfigure the ROV in minutes, with zero downtime between dives.
The versatility of two ROVs in one frame
The ORCA's clean open frame offers unrestricted mounting positions for sensors, tooling and custom components, while the snap-on skid system swaps mission-specific payloads between dives — not between deployments. Add capacity for a heavy sensor package, or strip weight to optimise speed and handling.
- Unrestricted, tool-free mounting for sonar, cameras, USBL and sensors
- Four quick-release skid points for rapid mission reconfiguration
- Add payload capacity or remove weight to tune speed and handling
- Zero-downtime reconfiguration — no second vehicle required

In-House Technology. Engineered for the ORCA.
The ORCA's thruster suite is designed and manufactured by SEAMOR — full control over performance, reliability and serviceability — and it runs the complete SEAMOR accessory ecosystem.
Sturgeon 200 W Vertical Thruster
In-house designed and built. Swiss Maxon motor, NASA-grade BAL Seal technology, corrosion-resistant 6061 aluminium and a serviceable shaft-seal cartridge. Powers ORCA's vertical propulsion.
500 W Brushless Horizontal Thruster
SEAMOR's larger thruster for the ORCA's horizontal propulsion. Integrated driver circuitry simplifies system integration; high-efficiency brushless motor; rugged build for demanding subsea work.
G156AD-SUIT Control Console
IP65 rugged suitcase controller with Intel Core i5 processor. Purpose-built for the ORCA's vectored-thrust control system and full 6 DOF interface. Waterproof and shock-resistant.
Dual Function Gripper
360° wrist rotation, 90 mm jaw, optional cutter. Mounts directly to the open frame at any preferred position. 300 m rated, anodized 6061-T6 aluminium.
Sonar & USBL Navigation
The open frame and high payload capacity support the largest imaging sonars available, and USBL positioning gives real-time tracking at any depth to 1,000 m.
Auxiliary Cameras & Lights
SEAMOR's 40 mm auxiliary camera (colour or B&W, 600 m rated) and 1,000-lumen lights. Mount multiple units across the open frame for complete situational awareness.
Built for Every Subsea Challenge
Vectored thrust, an open frame and a 1,000 m depth range open every major subsea application — from confined harbour work to deep offshore inspection and intervention.
Offshore Structure Inspection
Platform, jacket and subsea-asset survey to 1,000 m, holding station in current where conventional ROVs drift.
Pipeline & Cable Survey
Straight, repeatable survey lines from vectored station-keeping, with sonar and USBL tracking.
