The Challenge

The inspections that used to mean dewatering or divers

Tanks, penstocks, ballast voids and confined wet spaces are exactly where conventional inspection is slowest, costliest and most dangerous. EXRAY was engineered to remove those limits.

Too Tight to Enter

Standard ROVs are too large for hatches, pipes and penstocks — leaving dewatering or confined-space diving as the only option.

Diver Risk & Cost

Confined-space and contaminated-water dives carry real risk and heavy mobilisation cost. EXRAY keeps people out of the water.

Tether Snag

Cables catch on internal structure, valves and machinery. EXRAY can run fully wireless via the LUMA optical modem.

Slow to Deploy

Crane lifts and support vessels eat time. At 9 kg, one operator carries EXRAY to the water's edge and dives in minutes.

Key Capabilities

Built for Where Others Can't Go

EXRAY's ultra-compact form factor and six-degree-of-freedom control unlock inspection scenarios that were previously impossible — or that demanded a costly dive team.

Ultra-Compact · 13.4 cm Wide

Fits where nothing else does

At 13.4 cm (5.25 in) across and 9 kg, EXRAY slips through access hatches and confined spaces that rule out every conventional ROV. Tanks, pipes, penstocks and ballast voids all become accessible — carried to the water by one person and deployed in minutes.

  • Access hatches, manways and pipe bores closed to standard ROVs
  • Single-operator deployment from any quay, jetty or vessel edge
  • Replaces confined-space diver entry on many inspection tasks

Six-axis station-keeping under a submerged structure
6 Degrees of Freedom · 6–8 h

Precise in current. Long on the job.

Full six-axis control — surge, sway, heave, roll, pitch and yaw — gives pilots exact station-keeping for close-up inspection, even in flow and confined spaces. A long-duration battery delivers 6–8 hours of dive time, and a 40-minute charge keeps EXRAY running multiple missions a day.

  • Stable hover for welds, corrosion and coating close-ups
  • FHD live video with 4K still capture and geo-tagged points of interest
  • Modular payload bay with NAVIA™ auto-detection of attached sensors

Crystal-clear undistorted Full HD live video with 4K still capture. Geo-tagged points of interest feed straight into structured reports.

🔌

Modular Payloads

Industry-standard payload connectors with NAVIA™ auto-detection — water quality, sonar, thermal and structural sensors plug straight in.

📡

Optional Wireless

EXRAY uniquely supports tether-free operation via the integrated LUMA optical modem — removing cable management entirely.

🛰️

IMU & Depth Sensing

Onboard inertial measurement, pressure and temperature sensing keep orientation, depth and vehicle health on the pilot screen.

🎮

PILOT & INSPECTOR Stations

Choose the 8 kg PILOT control station or the 7 kg INSPECTOR station — both run the same NAVIA™ interface.

🛡️

DNV Class Approved

EXRAY is DNV class approved — ready for class-recognised inspection work in regulated maritime and energy environments.

LUMA Integration · Truly Untethered

Go wireless. Lose the tether entirely.

EXRAY is the only compact inspection ROV with a built-in optical wireless modem option. Paired with LUMA, the tether can be removed completely — ideal for rotating machinery, spiral staircases and multi-chamber tanks where a cable creates real safety risk. The operator experience is unchanged: same NAVIA™ interface, now over light.

  • Integrated LUMA optical modem eliminates tether drag and snag
  • Full FHD video streaming over the wireless optical link
  • Wireless range up to 50 m in clear water · full 6-DOF control retained

Real-World Deployment

One operator. One case. On-site in minutes.

The vehicle and its control station travel in portable cases — so a single inspector reaches the water's edge, powers up NAVIA™ and starts capturing footage without a crane, dive team or support vessel.

Everywhere You Need to See

EXRAY's compact size and long endurance open up inspection scenarios that were previously impossible, dangerous, or prohibitively expensive.

🛢️ Oil & Gas Infrastructure 💧 Hydropower Dams & Penstocks 🐟 Aquaculture Net Inspection 🚢 Hull & Ballast Tank Surveys ⚡ Offshore Wind Monopiles 🏙️ Municipal Water Infrastructure ⚓ Defence & Security 🔬 Marine Research
🏗️

Confined Space Inspection

At 13.4 cm wide, EXRAY accesses tanks, pipes, penstocks and voids that are physically inaccessible to conventional ROVs or that require costly confined-space diver entry.

Hydropower & Energy

Dam walls, intake channels, turbine wells and penstock interiors — clear video and 4K documentation in environments where traditional inspection is dangerous or impossible.

🛢️

Oil & Gas Assets

Ballast tank interiors, riser annuli and manifold access — with modular sensors for CP measurement, sonar imaging and environmental monitoring auto-detected by NAVIA™.

🐟

Aquaculture

Net condition assessment, mooring chain inspection and fish-health monitoring. EXRAY's compact footprint minimises disturbance to livestock while covering the whole pen.

Defence & Security

Harbour security surveys, hull threat investigation and infrastructure protection — with optional wireless LUMA operation removing all tether-related signatures.

💧

Municipal Infrastructure

Water reservoirs, sewage outfalls, intake channels and bridge piers — fast, safe, single-operator deployments replacing lengthy dewatering or dive mobilisation.
