Guard the grid
beneath the surface.
Pipelines, subsea cables, offshore energy structures and port assets carry the power, data and trade that nations depend on — and they sit largely unwatched on the seabed. ExRay brings wireless eyes to that grid: an inspection drone whose detachable flyout works free of any cable of its own, inspecting submerged infrastructure for damage, interference and emplaced threats before they become an incident.

The most critical infrastructure is the least watched.
A severed cable, a damaged pipeline or a tampered wellhead can disrupt energy, communications and trade across a region — yet these assets lie on the seabed, out of sight and inspected only occasionally. Mobilising a vessel and dive team or a tethered ROV for every check is slow and costly, and a trailing umbilical struggles around the dense structure of a platform or a pile field. ExRay makes inspection routine: a small, wireless drone that one operator can put over an asset on demand and fly through the structure that matters.
Eyes on the submerged grid
From the pipelines and cables crossing the seabed to the structures of offshore energy and the assets inside a port.

Offshore Energy Structures
Platform jackets, monopiles, risers and wellheads — close-up inspection for corrosion, damage, marine growth and signs of interference, in among structure too dense for a tethered ROV.

Pipelines & Subsea Cables
Tracking and inspecting pipelines and power or data cables for exposure, free spans, third-party damage and the spoil or anchor marks that signal tampering.

Ports & Harbour Assets
Quay walls, lock gates, intake structures and pilings — repeatable surveys that catch deterioration and detect anything that should not be there before it becomes a hazard.
From routine survey to on-alert response
A single platform covers the scheduled inspection cycle and the rapid check after an alarm — both flown wirelessly, both producing a structured record.
Mobilise
One operator launches ExRay over the asset from a quay, workboat or platform — no crane and no vessel-mounted ROV spread to stand up first.
Inspect
Six degrees of freedom fly the drone along a pipeline, around a jacket or into a pile field, holding station for close-up FHD video where it counts.
Surveil Wirelessly
The LUMA optical light link streams live video with no flyout cable to snag on structure — the drone moves freely through the asset, not around an umbilical of its own.
Report
NAVIA logs geo-tagged points of interest with FHD video and 4K stills, so each survey is repeatable and comparable against the last — change is easy to spot.

Fly through the structure, not around the cable
Offshore platforms, pile fields and pipeline crossings are exactly the environments a tether hates — every brace, anode and crossing is something for an umbilical to catch on. That limits how close a tethered ROV can inspect and how long a survey takes.
ExRay's wireless FLYOUT detaches and works without a cable of its own. Control and live FHD video run over the LUMA optical light link, up to about 30 m beyond the relay ROV's tether, so the flyout moves freely through complex structure while the operator keeps a real-time picture — turning a difficult survey into a routine one.
See the specifications →Make inspection routine — and change obvious
Security comes from knowing what normal looks like. Because ExRay is man-portable and single-operator, a survey that once needed a vessel and a dive team can run on a schedule — or on demand the moment an alarm or an unexplained signal warrants a look.
Every dive is recorded through NAVIA with geo-tagged points of interest, FHD video and 4K stills. Compare one survey to the next and damage, displacement or an emplaced object stands out immediately — the evidence base infrastructure operators and security teams need.

Put eyes on a critical asset on demand.
No vessel mobilisation, no crane, no heavy umbilical spread — one operator, a case and a wireless flyout that flies the asset and streams the picture back on light. Routine surveillance and rapid response from the same lightweight system.

AUKUS Maritime Innovation Challenge — 2026
Hydromea's LUMA optical-comms technology was selected as the optical layer in a ~US$1M AUKUS Maritime Innovation Challenge project, led by Florida Atlantic University and backed by the US Defense Innovation Unit (DIU), UK DASA and Australia's ASCA — a hybrid acoustic-plus-optical system for command-and-control in contested and congested undersea environments.
