Blueye X7
500 m · 7 Thrusters · Full 6-DOF
Take on complex underwater operations with power, precision and control. Seven thrusters deliver full six-degree-of-freedom flight to 500 m, with a 700 m tether, 10,000-lumen built-in lighting, seven guest ports for simultaneous payloads, and an Nvidia Jetson Orin NX AI module onboard — the most capable ROV Blueye has ever built.
The X7 in the Field
One platform for the missions other compact ROVs can't reach
The X7 is the heavy-duty flagship of the Blueye fleet — engineered for the depth, current and payload demands of naval, offshore and critical-infrastructure work, while keeping the single-operator simplicity that defines every Blueye. It carries the full Blunux software stack, the broad Smart Connector payload ecosystem, and onboard AI processing in one rugged, self-serviceable vehicle.
- Seven thrusters — full 6-DOF flight in confined structures and current
- Rated to 500 m with a 700 m tether for deep, wide-area access
- 4K UHD HDR camera · 8× zoom · 10,000-lumen built-in lighting
- Seven guest ports — every major subsea interface, simultaneously
- Nvidia Jetson Orin NX onboard AI · real-time image filters
- Self-serviceable, user-replaceable components · free Blunux updates
The operational limits the X7 was built to remove
Compact ROVs hit hard ceilings on depth, current and payload. The X7 was designed specifically to push past them — without growing into a crane-launched work-class system.
🌊 Current & Standoff
Four-thruster ROVs drift off target in flow. Seven vectored thrusters hold a precise 6-DOF hover for close inspection in moving water.
⬇️ Depth Ceiling
At 500 m — 195 m deeper than the X1/X3 family — the X7 opens offshore platforms, deep harbours and cable routes previously out of reach.
🔌 Single-Payload Limits
One guest port forces a choice between sonar, positioning or sensors. Seven ports run them together on one dive.
🌫️ Poor Visibility
Murky, shaded and deep water defeats fixed imaging. A low-light 4K sensor and real-time filters recover usable footage.
Seven Thrusters. Full 6-DOF Control.
The X7 is the first Blueye ROV with full six-degree-of-freedom flight — surge, sway, heave, roll, pitch and yaw — giving operators complete spatial authority inside structures, in current and in tight inspection geometry.
Fly it like a work-class ROV — carry it like a Blueye
The vectored seven-thruster layout enables lateral translation, roll correction and pitch hold — manoeuvres impossible with four-thruster designs and essential when working inside ballast tanks, around mooring chains or along a hull in current. An improved IMU removes the need for temperature calibration, so the X7 is dive-ready straight out of the case.
- Holds a stable 6-DOF hover for close-tolerance inspection in flow
- Dual hot-swap batteries — ~2.5 h standard, ~5 h high-capacity
- USB-C 240 W PD 3.2 fast charging · topside power option
- Improved IMU — no temperature calibration required
4K HDR · 8× Zoom · Onboard AI
A large 1/1.8" AR0822 sensor, HDR, 8× zoom and a -70°/+90° tilt range — paired with an Nvidia Jetson Orin NX module for real-time image enhancement, object detection and inspection annotation, all processed onboard.
See more, in worse water, in finer detail
4K UHD at 3840×2160/30fps with HDR balances bright reflections and deep shadow in a single frame — critical when a lit zone and a shaded recess sit in the same shot. The large sensor performs in low light: murky water, the deep, or the shaded side of a structure. An extended -70° to +90° tilt range looks straight up at hull undersides or steeply down without repositioning the vehicle.
Computer vision and image filters, processed onboard
The Jetson Orin NX edge-AI module runs object detection and tracking, collision avoidance and situational awareness in real time — and applies turbidity, colour and lens-correction filters to the live feed before it ever reaches the surface. The result is cleaner footage, less pilot workload, and a direct path into Blueye Cloud's AI inspection reports.

Seven Guest Ports. Every Interface.
The X7 carries seven Smart Connector guest ports covering every major subsea interface — so sonar, positioning, sensors, grippers and custom payloads run simultaneously without giving up a slot.
Ethernet
High-bandwidth connection for IP multibeam sonar, imaging systems and custom computer-vision payloads.
RS232 / RS485 / RS422
Serial interfaces for USBL transponders, positioning modules, compasses and scientific instruments.
USB 2.0 & USB 3.0
Standard USB for cameras, data loggers and the broad Blueye Smart Connector accessory ecosystem.
I²C · PWM · UART
Low-level buses for custom sensor integration, actuator control and embedded electronics payloads.
Configurable Payload Bay
The modular payload architecture mounts sonar, grippers, sensors and positioning hardware in the configuration each mission needs — and swaps them in the field.
Build the X7 around the mission
Every Smart Connector payload is auto-detected on connection — no driver install, no manual configuration. Mount a multibeam sonar and a DVL for survey, a gripper and a cutter for intervention, or NDT and cathodic-protection probes for class inspection, and reconfigure on deck between dives.
- Multibeam & scanning sonar — Oculus, Gemini, Ping360, Omniscan
- Positioning — Water Linked DVL A50, UGPS G2, SeaTrac USBL
- Manipulation — Newton & Reach Alpha gripper families
- NDT & sensors — Cygnus UTM, DigiCP, Aqua TROLL, gamma-ray
Built for the Toughest Missions
The X7's depth, 6-DOF control and payload capacity open missions previous Blueye models could not take on.
Naval & Defence
Hull threat investigation, mine countermeasures, harbour and infrastructure security with simultaneous sonar and positioning payloads.
Offshore Energy
Platform legs, mooring chains, conductor guides and subsea structures surveyed in current, to 500 m, by a single operator.
Critical Infrastructure
Subsea cable and pipeline monitoring, deep-harbour surveys and cathodic-protection inspection on long, deep routes.
