You can't manage the drag you can't measure

Biofouling is the quietest of the performance losses. A film of slime, weed and barnacle on the underwater hull raises frictional resistance, robs speed and pushes fuel burn — and CO2 — up, often well before anyone schedules a look. Under the IMO's tightening regime, that inefficiency now shows up directly in a vessel's annual CII rating. Yet most fleets still clean on a fixed calendar — sending divers to hulls that don't need it, while others quietly burn fuel between dockings. Vesselity replaces the guesswork with a measured, fleet-wide picture of hull condition, so cleaning effort and budget land exactly where they cut the most fuel. A class survey carried out entirely by ROV

The flagship case was the Scandlines ferry Schleswig-Holstein on the Puttgarden–Rødby crossing between Germany and Denmark. Lloyd's Register awarded certification for an in-water survey conducted entirely by remotely operated vehicle — with no divers in the water — and the whole survey was completed in under four hours with a Blueye Pro micro-ROV.

Notably the Schleswig-Holstein uses Azipod pod propulsion with no propeller shaft — and that acceptance of a pod vessel was the regulatory novelty Lloyd's Register signed off. What exactly is Hull-Sight?
A cloud platform with two halves. It combines AIS routing, sea-temperature, biological and speed data with advanced per-vessel ship profiles to produce a continuous fleet-wide biofouling-risk picture; and it stores and AI-analyses underwater inspection imagery with automated reporting. There is no hardware to install and it supports CII / efficiency reporting.
How accurate is the inspection, and what does it cost?
The micro-ROV survey uses AI image segmentation that classifies biofouling and coating damage at over 98% accuracy, and it typically costs up to 50% less than a conventional diver survey — a 9 kg ROV mobilises in minutes from quay, anchorage or the vessel itself.
Can it satisfy a classification requirement?
Yes. Where required, the survey is delivered to certified In-Water Survey (IWS) standard. Lloyd's Register has certified an in-water survey conducted entirely by ROV in Puttgarden, Germany, and Scandlines Germany received its first ROV class certificate without conventional divers.
Do I have to buy both the software and the service?
No — each is valuable on its own. Hull-Sight delivers value from operating data alone, and the ROV survey can be booked as a one-off or recurring inspection. Used together they form the full predict-prove-improve loop, where every survey sharpens the next prediction.
