Portasonic PRO - 7" tablet, sensors clamped on the pipe
Coltraco's clamp-on transit-time flow meters strap onto the outside of a pipe and read the flow inside it ultrasonically, to ±0.5%, on lines from DN15 up to DN2500 (with the large DS10 sensor). Monitor fuel lines, check water and fire-sprinkler lines, or confirm a pump is delivering to spec: nothing is cut, nothing is drained, and the system keeps running while you measure.

Transit-time flow, read from outside the pipe
A pair of ultrasonic sensors clamp to the pipe wall. The meter times a pulse sent with the flow against one sent against it, and the tiny difference gives the flow velocity, and from the pipe data, the flow rate. Because the sensors never touch the fluid, there's no pipe-cutting, no leak path and no shutdown, which is suited to fuel, water and process lines aboard ship and ashore. Choose the portable Portasonic® for spot surveys and commissioning, or the permanently installed Permaflow® for continuous monitoring and heat metering. Plan around these
As stated in Coltraco's own brochures. We confirm anything else on the quote.
- Clean liquids only: most clean liquids with gas or solids under 10% of the volume. The ±0.5% is under ideal conditions.
- The sensor sets the pipe size: the standard DM10 covers DN15-DN700 (the PRO brochure states DN750). The large DS10 (DN25-DN2500) is an option for the PLUS and Permaflow; no large sensor is listed for the PRO.
- Mounting: V (2 passes), W (4) or Z (1). Coltraco recommends the pass count that gives a sound path of 100 mm or more in the fluid.
- One job each: only the PLUS gauges pipe-wall thickness (2-20 mm); only the PRO calculates internal pressure (±5%), and it calculates rather than measures it.
- Permaflow is fixed: mains or DC powered (DC PSU supplied for 100-240 V AC), not battery. Outputs (4-20 mA, Modbus RTU, relay, OPTO, open collector, digital) and PT100 inputs are plug-in modules; heat metering needs two PT100 modules, thermometers not included.
- Permaflow sensors: Coltraco lists the DM10 and DS10 transducers and the carrying case as accessories, so we confirm the sensor set on the quote.
